It's a very authoritative, convincing and attractively stated proposition... classic Nazi rhetoric, in other words.

For this reason, I find it hard to take it as advice, strictly speaking. If I start thinking "Some things are true, even if Goering said them", I fall in with Tom Friedman, who said the other day, "Some things are true even if George Bush believes them."

Let's not forget Goering was trying to spread blame, and manufacture moral equivalencies to defend himself against charges of Holocaust, the organized mass murder of millions of civilians. He was lying on a daily basis, in other words.

Apropos of listening to Goering, I looked up the casualty figures for the first and second World Wars, and see more than a million French and 279,000 British soldiers died in 1914-15 alone, while "only" killing 612,000 on the German side.

America lost only 112,000 during their part of the war, in 1918, and half of them due to influenza.

The French then lost 700,000 soldiers and civilians in their single-front war during WWII, the Germans lost close to 7 MILLION. We lost virtually no civilians, and 400, 000 soldiers during WWII. Is there any need to wonder why they prefer diplomacy to slaughter? Looking at this pile of bodies, it is easy to see why they think war is no answer. Will we learn the hard way too?

We live in a time of bristling irony. Pithy observations abound about how the world really isn't the way it seems to be if you believe the media. The fallout will be more and more people wising up.

This quote is going around as though Goering said this at trial while under oath in front of all the respectable people who agreed and are carrying on the work of world domination.

Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece.
