I'm a judge for the Webby Awards this year, and am judging the Living section -- sites such as Readymade, Epicurious and Benjamin Moore Paints have been nominated. We want to make sure we don't overlook any really great sites, so if you know of a good do-it-yourself, cooking, home building, and otherwise "Lifestyle" related sites that we should know about, please post it in the comments here!
Thanks a bunch!

The Webbys keep pushing their entry deadlines back and back and back. I wonder if anyone still enters these days. It's a much different world.

What a funny category! I very much love the site above, though it is several thousand leagues removed from the ones you mention. Addresses issues such as anarchic botanical promiscuity, Icelandic hidden folk, and all sorts of other open source 'lifestyle' movements. (Caterina you linked to it yourself a while back, I was happy to see!)
the thing about sites like readymade is that they are cool print mags, so we think their sites are cool.
i think nest magazine rawks, but the site has few features online. some, but few.

I really dig knitty.com. Though, being specific to knitting, it might not be broad enough for the category? They offer very cute (and free!) patterns and great advice for newbies like me.
daegan | March 3, 2004 4:17 PMEpicurious serves up tastiness. I've made a few recipes and been pleased. But what's with the South Beach Diet ads popping up in front of dessert?!

Designed and maintained by the food writer David Leite, it offers a place for his own essays as well as recipes tested and reviewed in volunteer kitchens across the country. Superb graphics and a delicious layout!
A friend of mine in Japan runs a great little everyday-in-Tokyo food/home/design blog. It's fresh + simple:

Mohamed | March 2, 2004 8:54 PMA really good site, and over all well balanced for learning practical things around the house

You can really learn just about anything from this site; I used it as a reference when learning how to play the guitar

Probably won't win this award, but it's just a great 101 on doing less practical things (like how to make your own beer, or how to lie persuasively), but it also has a lot of good, practical things to know as well. Plus it's quirky and funny, I thought you might like this site either way.
