Products for the First World

I mentioned SkyMall earlier, a catalog stuck in the pockets of airplane seats, which for useless crap surpasses even Sharper Image, Spencer's Gifts and a long Japanese tradition of Chindogu. Some examples:

So does this mean there's not a murphy bed in DP's future?

imagine a home equipped and decorated entirely with Skymall products. the company should do that. and give tours.

skymall has been one of my favorite mags for years now.

I am particularly fond of the Mock Rock.

Hmm...The toilet lock _is_ stylish and handy...in an Amityville sort of way.

The toilet lock actually falls in the child safety category. Toddlers like to throw things in the toilet and some may have tried to climb in themselves...

I enjoy the skymall catalog. It wastes a good hour when you're in the air at least.

You forgot the one thing in the SkyMall catalog that makes me snort laugh every time: The travel pillow you inflate and put in front of you like a giant wedge. Can you imagine the looks you'd get if you pulled that thing out while sitting in the aisle seat?

I saw once a loud alarm-type gadget that goes off when a pet climbs onto the couch. They also sell a plethora of pet-ramps. If you want to drive your dog nuts, buy them both and place the ramp next to the couch.

My personal favorites are the "Lord of the Rings"-themed luxury products (perhaps discontinued now that the movies are out of the zeitgeist) such as the $500 solid gold, supersized "One Ring" engraved in the language of Mordor.

I can't figure out what the demographic is...successful young tech-geeks, I guess, but I would have thought most of those would be too savvy to fall for, like, Galadriel's Mirror in Pure Sterling Silver...

My daughter and I always look for the pet stroller in SkyMall. We can't stop laughing when we see it. I see that they now have a double-decker pet stroller! Would love to see my cat in that thing. Then again, maybe not.

I always love looking at Skymall when I fly, the ideas that people come up with is unbelievable but so are the prices. If only I had money for some of these things.

Wow! I've seen lots of gadgets, but some of these are unbelievable. The 12-card auto card manager is ridiculously bulky. How funny! LOL
