Loveless !

No spiderland, no Abbey Road, nor Eusa Kills or Slanted and Enchanted.

I think I am also going for Loveless. I am going to see MBV in Manchester this summer. The only reunion I think that's going to be great I think. Or are my emotions masked by shear nostaligia

Nice list. It is always interesting to see what people post in their list.

As for me:

Joshua Tree
Blue in Green
Revolver
Paid in Full
Superfuzz Bigmuff - Mudhoney

The Joshua Tree (if I could only pick one)
also have to agree on Revolver
+
Dark Side of the Moon
Life's Rich Pageant
Agaetis Byrjun by Sigur Ros
Under the Pink
and an honorable mention to Elbow's Cast of Thousands.

All of the above chosen because they hang together thematically/musically as a true musical experience rather than just a collection of one or two good songs with lots of filler. Musically they must also stand the test of time. "Cast of Thousands" comes very close but falters near the end of the album.

I'm with you.

For me it's also Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, without question. That record was one of those few moments where an album caught my ear in the first moments I heard it, and it's seemed fresh to me for nearly 17 years now.

I feel it's just an amazing record. I'm trying to place another favorite record up there (maybe the Smiths, Hatful of Hollow, or New Day Rising, Dolittle?) but I really don't get the same visceral response from any other record.

1. OK Computer- undeniably brilliant. Thom Yorke is a genius.

2. Meat is Murder- completely and utterly original and exciting. Johnny Marr's guitar work combined with lyrics that are somewhere between the despair of The Smith's earlier works and the jangle-pop of their latter was always going to be groundbreaking.

3. A Crow Left of the Murder- rock bristling with emotion and intellect. This is where Incubus became the band they were always meant to be, and where they gained the respect they deserved even from non-rock fans.

These are my three. I could go on forever explaining the intricacies of each, the details that add an extra dimension to each piece of work and elevate them from being good to brilliant. However, when it comes down to it, these are simply the albums that have brought me the greatest amount of pleasure and have achieved to the highest degree what music is meant to do, to make existence more pleasurable.

"After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music"- Alduos Huxley

Other contenders are Odyssey Number 5, Is This It, The Bends, Absolution and Strangeways Here We Come.
